ABOUT FOR HER BY HER

IMG_3182.JPG

For Her by Her, founded in 2023 by Eseosa Igiede, also known as 'Big Sosa', is a platform created to amplify voices that are often overlooked in the music industry. As we know, the industry is predominantly male, and opportunities for women—especially women of color—are scarce.

"I've personally faced these challenges and barriers during my career as a musician, which fueled my drive to carve out space for myself and others like me".

In November 2023, Eseosa took the initiative to host her very first showcase, which sold out and was a testament to the demand for women of color to have their talents celebrated. Since then, our team continued this momentum, executing another sold-out event in March 2024 for International Women's Month. These events were not just about music; they were about creating a platform where women can perform freely and safely, without the constraints of industry norms.

For Her by Her is pivoting to not only curate showcases, but also to create unique experiences and events that highlight the voices of women of color in Boston’s music scene and beyond. Our goal is to continue shining a spotlight on these artists, while building a supportive and safe community that fosters creative expression and collaboration.

At For Her By Her, we are dedicated to empowering Black women in our local music scene and beyond. Our platform was designed  to fight against gender injustices within the music industry, while providing safe spaces for these women. It is our priority to implement inclusivity through unique experiences for all artists and patrons.

Our founder collaborates closely with FHBH's Creative Director, Trippy Tomlinson to ensure that every initiative aligns with our core mission, which is to celebrate and uplift the contributions of Black women, ensuring their talent and stories are recognized and respected. With their backgrounds and expertise in music, creative direction and marketing, Sosa and Trippy work to promote talent, advocate for equity, and create opportunities for both emerging and established artists.
